Passion is something you also do in your personal time. Like those blockchain enthusiast always meet up regularly to discuss how to use technology to change the world.
To excel in the job, it is easier if one is passionate to the product and agrees to the value of the company he/she works for.
When I was in MoneyHero, I always calculated the cashbate and airmiles rate of most of the credit cards from different banks. And I truly think financial education we provided via blogs can reduce the information assymetry between FI and customers.
In my current job in Midland, As I am deeply interested in property investment, I can always have ideas to enhance our property search platform from a customer perspective. Even have good hard skills like marketing, PM etc. without passion to understand the product and industry well, it is hard to do well.
Raising salary and promotion are important but motivation (may to more to me only) investment are relatively short term and fade after a while. And most importantly, without passion, working is painful time.
